We are looking for a talented PhD student to work on the intersection of vision, action and language, with direct application to robotics. A solid background on computer vision is a requirement. Additionally, experience with control and/or natural language processing is a plus.

Beautiful Ridge Hike


Last Sunday, after a challenging Spring and Summer for all of us, our team went on a beautiful ridge hike in the Swiss Alps. The weather could not have been better on the Autumn day we picked for such activity. It was nice to see everybody again in person and spend some time together in nature.

We made it into Communications of the ACM. I was asked how my team and I let computer vision systems work even under the worst of weather conditions, think fog... A real challenge for autonomous cars! The full article can be found here.

Deep Learning for Autonomous Driving


Today, Alex and I were happy and excited to kick off our first lecture on Deep Learning for Autonomous Driving (DLAD).
The lecture received a lot of attention among students and it is an honor for us to teach almost 100 students in the first edition of this course.
DLAD is a yearly recurring course and already now, we are actively working towards a solution to teach even more students in the years to come.

ICCV'19 Autonomous Driving Workshop


The Autonomous Driving Workshop at ICCV 2019 has been successfully taken place on Oct. 28 in Seoul. Thank you to all the invited speakers, authors, presenters and the audience. We are looking forward to meeting you again next time.

Visit of Fisher Yu


Yesterday, on July 31st, we welcomed an honorable visitor at our lab, Fisher Yu.
After he gave an inspiring talk about his current work at Berkley DeepDrive, we gave him demos of what we are working on.
Everybody here is excited about him joining the lab as Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Computer Vision towards the end of 2020.

TRACE   Workshop 2019


Two weeks ago, on July 1st, part of our team and I had a fun and memorable trip to Leuven for the yearly TRACE workshop. We had great discussions with people from other project partners, and enjoyed fantastic Belgian beer and food.
